Risk disclosure
Trading crypto-assets and other financial instruments involves significant risk, including the possible partial or total loss of your invested capital. This page explains, in plain language, the nine risks that matter most when using Couponeau App — and what you can do about each one.
Automated analysis and risk guards reduce the time you spend watching markets. They do not remove risk, and nothing on this platform is a guarantee of profit. Past results do not predict future performance.

You should not invest in crypto-assets unless you understand what you are buying and can afford to lose the entire amount. If any section below is unclear, ask us before — not after — you fund your account.
1Market risk
Crypto, FX and equity prices move constantly and sometimes violently. A position that looks healthy in the morning can be significantly down by the evening — volatility of 10% or more in a single day is a normal part of crypto markets, not an anomaly. Automated strategies experience the same movements; the algorithm decides when to act, but it cannot make a falling price rise.
Practical step: Decide before you deposit how much of your capital you are prepared to see fluctuate, and keep that figure honest. Only invest money whose loss would not change your life.
2Liquidity risk
In fast markets, the gap between the price you see and the price you get — slippage — can widen sharply. Large orders or thinly traded assets may be difficult to execute at the expected level, and stop-style protections can fill at a worse price than intended.
Practical step: Prefer liquid, major assets for your first strategies. The platform displays expected execution conditions before a trade is confirmed — read them instead of skipping past.
3API and integration risk
Connecting an exchange account uses API keys. A misconfigured key, a revoked permission or a third-party API outage can interrupt trading or cause a strategy to behave unexpectedly. Keys held with overly broad permissions are also a security liability.
Practical step: Grant the minimum rights a strategy needs (never withdrawal rights), rotate keys periodically, and check connection status after any exchange announces maintenance.
4Counterparty and custody risk
Funds held on or routed through an exchange, payment provider or custodian depend on that third party’s solvency and operational competence. If a provider fails, freezes withdrawals or suffers its own breach, client funds can be affected through no action of ours.
Practical step: Keep only working capital on connected venues, and withdraw profits you do not intend to trade with. Spread exposure across providers where practical.
5Operational risk
Software has bugs, servers fail, and internet connections drop. A strategy may not execute exactly as designed during an outage, and delayed data can lead to decisions based on stale prices.
Practical step: Use the dashboard’s health indicators, and enable notifications for strategy pauses so you learn about problems from us first, not from a missing balance.
6Cybersecurity and phishing
Attackers target trading accounts because they hold money. Phishing emails, fake support accounts, lookalike domains and credential-stuffing attacks are constant. A stolen password is the most common way an account is lost — not a market move.
Practical step: Enable 2FA immediately, use a unique password, check the domain in your address bar every time you sign in, and never act on urgency. Report anything suspicious to [email protected].
7Models and automation
The AI engine identifies patterns using probability-based analysis — and probability has no memory. A strategy that performed well historically can underperform or lose for extended periods when market character changes. Automation removes emotion, not risk, and no model can guarantee a result.
Practical step: Review strategy performance monthly, not hourly. Treat any period of sustained losses as a signal to reduce exposure or change parameters — with your manager, not alone at midnight.
8Service availability
Scheduled maintenance, exchange outages and extreme traffic during market shocks can make the platform or parts of it temporarily unavailable. While trading guards are designed to fail safe — pausing rather than guessing — pauses themselves can mean missed opportunities as well as avoided losses.
Practical step: Do not build your plans around constant availability. Keep your contact details current so maintenance notices reach you, and avoid last-minute changes before major scheduled updates.
9Before you start
The most damaging risks are usually the avoidable ones: unclear goals, oversized deposits, abandoned accounts and ignored warnings. Understand the strategy you are running, define the loss level you can accept, protect the account itself, and keep control of your strategies instead of delegating your judgement.
Practical step: Read this page and the Fees page before your first deposit. Set a written limit for acceptable loss. Review it after your first month — with your personal manager on the call.
Who owns the decision
Couponeau App provides technology, analysis tools and information. It does not provide personalised investment advice, and it does not manage money on your behalf: you choose the strategies, the amounts and the risk limits, and the platform executes within them. The information and analytics provided by the platform are informational only and are not recommendations.
Before making any investment decision, carefully assess your objectives, your financial situation and your tolerance for risk. If you are unsure whether automated trading suits you, speak to a licensed financial adviser in your province or state. Our FAQ covers common questions, and the Complaints page explains your escalation rights in Canada (OBSI) and Australia (AFCA).
